Adiós

Spanish flag

I’m flying to Spain tomorrow with Mr Marples and Miss Carter so that we can visit one of our link comenius schools. Over the last couple of days I have been trying to learn some new Spanish words and phrases (below) so that I can communicate with others whilst in Spain.

Hello - Hola
Goodbye - Adiós
Yes - Si
No - No
Friend (male) - Amigo
Friend (female) - Amiga
Thank you - Gracias
Good morning - Buenos días
How are you? - ¿Cómo está?
See you soon - Hasta luego

I might try taking the register in Spanish during the first week back, so see if you can learn some Spanish words for then.

This is my last blog post over this half term break; I’ll see you all soon. :)

Spellings fun

Spellings fun

I’ve created a new blog page full of links to spellings games. Click on the ‘Spellings fun’ tab (next to the ‘Class pets’ tab near the top of this page) to check it out. :)

Beware the Jabberwock!

Jabberwocky

Click here, or on the picture above, if you would like to download a copy of ‘Jabberwocky’, the poem that I would like our class to perform as part of the Key Stage Two poetry competition. When you click on one of the links a small window will open, click on the ‘Open’ or ‘OK’ button, and then print or save the document that opens.

Please spend some time learning your group’s lines over half term - we shall be working on ways of performing the poem at the start of term four.

To help you understand what Jabberwocky is all about, have a look at this picture. :)

Column addition word problems

Column addition

Click here to download a copy of the ‘column addition word problems’ sheet that I used with you in maths on Thursday - quite a few of you were very keen to complete some of these problems at home.

For a mini-certificate, work out the answers to the problems using column addition and then write the answers as sentences.

Enjoy your weekend. :)

Year Four Questionnaire

Question mark

I have created a questionnaire that I would like you to spend a couple of minutes filling in so that I can find out about your experiences of school so far this year. Click here to fill in the questionnaire. :)

Yellowtail

Yellowtail

Click here, or on the picture above, to play with Yellowtail. Yellowtail repeats whatever you decide to draw on the screen with your mouse. You may have to press the ‘Enter’ or ‘Spacebar’ key or click on the small box in the top right hand corner of the screen to start the program. Enjoy! :)

Hurricane videos

Hurricane

Click here, or on the picture above, to watch the hurricane videos I showed you today during literacy.

In preparation for writing your own ending to ‘Gregory Cool’, start thinking about where Gregory and Lennox are going to be when the hurricane hits Tobago and what they are going to do during the storm. :)

Science Week

Toy car

Next week is ‘Science Week’; as a year group we are going to be focussing on the force of wind and are going to be making windmills that can lift objects.

To help me demonstrate how forces work, could you please bring any toy cars that you have at home with you to school on Monday. :)

Why is it sometimes light and sometimes dark?

The Earth and Moon

Below are links to the two websites that I used in yesterday’s science lesson.

BBC Schools - Earth, Sun and Moon

BBC Planets Gallery

You may like to have a go at the quiz on the BBC Schools website - if you do, let me know what you scored. :)
