Click here or on the picture above to play with a fun online paint program I came across a while back. This is no usual paint program; things you paint can come alive by moving, twisting, growing and shrinking. I think that the website is Russian, but just play around with the different features and you’ll soon work things out. ![]()
Monthly Archive for December, 2007

Merry Christmas everyone. What presents were you luckily enough to receive this year?
In the new year I will need some new banners for my blog. The banner is the image at the top of this website - my current banner shows me and three children standing near the interactive whiteboard.
If you would like to design a banner for this website by hand, click here to download a design sheet. When you click on the link a small window will open, click on the ‘Open’ or ‘OK’ button, and then print the document that opens.
Please make sure that:
- you only use felt tip pens or colouring pencils to design your banner;
- the banner includes the words ‘Mr Lovegrove’s class blog’ and ‘Sonning Common Primary School’;
- you are as creative as possible - let your imagination run wild;
- you do not fold or crease the sheet that your banner is designed on - creases may show when your banner is scanned.
Bring your completed design to school with you sometime during the first week back. I’ll scan the banners that I’m given and will upload them so that each one appears on this blog for a week or so. ![]()

Thank you for the Christmas presents and cards I received from you. I was given so many presents that I had to ask four people to help me carry all of them to my car!
Thank you also for making my first two terms teaching you so enjoyable. It’s been a real pleasure getting to know you all.
I hope you all have a brilliant Christmas break. I’ll update my blog over the holiday period, so stay tuned in. ![]()

Thank you all so much for the hard work that you put into performing our Christmas sketch. You guys shone; I’m so proud of you all. I still believe that our performance was the best in the school! ![]()
As I mentioned the other day, I’d like us to do more whole-class reading after Christmas. We read, together on Monday, a story called Mr Sticky. I took this story from a website called short stories. Click here, or on the picture above, to explore the children’s section of the short stories website. There are some superb stories on this website; I recommend reading Marmalade. ![]()
Click here, or on the picture above, to visit the origami website I used with you today. Click on a category (i.e. easy, Christmas, bugs), then on the picture of the origami model you’d like to make, then on the ‘diagram’ or ‘animation’ button.
My favourites:
Christmas:
If you make any at home, please do bring them into school - I’d love to see them. Remember that you may need to fold and cut an A4 piece of paper in order to start with a square.

Today in maths:
- Use Jungle Jim Drums to practise the 3x table
- Practise number bonds to 10 by playing Money Splat
- Use Jungle Jim Monkeys to practise the 4x table
- Practise number bonds to 20 by playing Funky Mummy
- Have a go at either the easy or medium levels of Cone Crazy
If you finish, have a game of Snakes and Ladders with your partner. ![]()
A few of you have asked me recently where I bought Myst III from. Amazon, the online shop, are currently selling the game for £4.99 - click here to be taken to the direct page.

If possible, please remember to bring your Christmas sketch costume to school with you on Monday. You must have your costume in school by Friday 14th, the day of the big dress rehearsal!
Have a great weekend. ![]()

Click here to explore the sounds website that I showed you today. I’m going to use this website to add music and sound effects to our podcasts.
I’ll update my blog later tonight with our first ever podcast!
For those of you that have lost the letter with the permission slip that your parent/carer needs to sign in order for me to put your voice on this website, I’ll give you a fresh letter on Thursday.
