Column addition

Column addition

I found a great website that will help you learn more about column addition. Click here, or on the sum above, to have a look. Click on the blue arrow buttons, when you’re on the website, to see the different ways that column addition will work. There are some worksheets that you can print out and have a go at if you’d like to also. :)

Write to Santa

A letter from Santa

I did some searching and found Santa’s address in Reindeerland. If you’d like to write to Santa, send a letter to him at the below address before Tuesday 11th of December.

Santa
Santa’s Grotto
Reindeerland
SAN TA1

If you’ve been well behaved this year he might just write back! :)

Snowflakes

Snowflake

To play with the snowflake making application I talked about today click here or on the picture above. Draw flakes within the black circle by clicking and dragging your mouse. Press the ‘2D ROTATE’ and ‘3D ROTATE’ buttons to make your snowflake come alive and the ‘UNDO’ button if you make a mistake. :)

Christmas sketch

Baboushkas

I have created a new page on this blog that contains information about our upcoming Christmas sketch. Click on the ‘Christmas sketch’ tab (near the top of this page, next to the ‘Class pets’ tab) to take a look. :)

Update: the ‘Christmas sketch’ page has now been removed. The script for the sketch can still be downloaded here.

Mini-certificate poll

I used tally marks to work out which certificate, from the four that I posted on this blog last weekend, received the most votes in our recent poll.

Tally marks

Certificate four was the most popular; I’ll order some packs of this certificate shortly. Thank you to everyone that voted.

Certificate four

Have a brilliant weekend - see you on Monday. :)

Asteroids

Asteroids

Imagine this - you are in a spaceship cruising thousands of feet above the surface of our planet and are fighting your way through a storm of asteroids. Image no longer - ‘Asteroids’ the game is here! Click here or on the picture above to play. Move your ship with the arrow keys and press the space bar to fire at the rocks and the UFOs. Enjoy! :)

New mini-certificates

I am quickly running out of the mini-certificates I use to reward you at school; I need to order some more from a company called Super Stickers. Instead of me picking the certificate design I like the most, I’d like you to vote for the design you like the most. There are four designs below - if you like number one the best, post ‘1′ as comment, if you like number two the best, post ‘2′ as comment and so on.

Voting closes on Friday.

Science - materials

materials tester

To use the materials testing machine I showed you today in science click here or on the picture above.

To earn a sticker answer the following questions:

  • What does transparent mean?
  • Is rubber a waterproof material?
  • Are fabrics flexible materials?

Behaviour

Classroom

Below are the class rules from our class charter. Please take some time to read and think about them.

In Year Four we should…

  • try our best in everything;
  • be ready to learn;
  • listen to the person that is talking;
  • be positive;
  • look after others;
  • be kind and calm;
  • keep the classroom tidy.

I didn’t feel that, during Thursday and Friday this week, some people took these rules very seriously. It’s important that we all stick to these rules - they are there to make sure that everyone has the chance to learn and that everyone is happy and cared for in school.

So please have a relaxing weekend and come to school ready to learn on Monday. Keep up the great reading also - the more you read, the more stamps you’ll earn!

Making a maraca

Maracas

I was very impressed with the maraca designs you did today. If you would like to have another go at planning what your maraca is going to look like, click here, or on the picture above, to download a maraca design template. When you click on the link or the picture a small window will open, click on the ‘Open’ or ‘OK’ button, and then print the document that opens. Design your maraca and bring your design into school so that you have it with you when we are ready to start painting.

Enjoy. :)
