Carve a pumpkin

Carving a pumpkin

Whilst thinking about Halloween I remembered an online pumpkin carving game I once played. I searched for the game using Google and found it. Click here, or on the picture above, to play the game yourself. Use the tool to cut out sections from the pumpkin, press the ‘UNDO’ button if you make a mistake, press the ‘RESET’ button to start all over again and press the ‘DONE’ button when you are finished.

Enjoy! :)

First day back after half-term

Ghost

On the first day back after half-term…

  • Please bring a Halloween costume to school with you if you have one;
  • Please make sure you bring your PE with you also - we’ve got a multi-sports session booked with a coach.

See you on Tuesday. :)

Turtles

Turtle

Adam Bowman, the guy that makes the virtual pets we all really like, recently added some new creatures to his collection - turtles! Click here to play with them. The turtles can be fed (by clicking on the water they’re swimming in) and can be moved around (by dragging them with the mouse). Thanks Adam!

Who do you support?

I was looking through some photos yesterday and I came across this one:

Football

That is a photo of me, when I was eight years old, dressed in a full Leicester City football club kit.

I supported Leicester as a youngster; one of the reasons that I supported this team was because my dad did. My dad and I went to see them playing other teams together, got upset together when they lost and celebrated together when they won. My favourite Leicester player was David Oldfield (he now plays for Stafford Rangers) - there was something about him that I really liked.

So, to help me learn more about you, have a go at answering the below questions.

  • Which football team do you support?
  • Why do you support this team?
  • Who is your favourite player?

End of term one and Halloween assembly

Thank

Thank you all for such a great start to Year Four; I hope you have all enjoyed the first term back (I have!). Term two will be really exciting - we will be starting a new science topic on materials, will be completing a design and technology project and will get ready for our part in this year’s Christmas production.

Pumpkin

As you know, on the first day of term two (Tuesday 30th October) I am leading a Key Stage Two assembly on Halloween. If you have been given lines to say during this assembly please make sure you practise them until you know them well (I don’t expect you to learn them off by heart). If you have a Halloween costume, and would like to wear this during the assembly, please bring it with you to school on Tuesday the 30th in a plastic bag.

I will update my blog over half-term, so keep visiting.

Enjoy your well deserved break. :)

Healthy eating

The balanced plate

In science on Friday I used an interesting website to help teach you about healthy eating. Click here if you would like to explore this website yourself. When the website has loaded, click on each of the food groups to learn more about them.

To earn a sticker, answer the following questions:

  • How many portions of milk and dairy foods should you be eating every day?
  • Which food group does butter fall in to?
  • Which food group do crackers fall in to?

If you click on the blue ‘Sorting Activity’ button (near the top, on the right hand side of the page) when you are on the website, you can play a sorting game. To start sorting, click on the green ‘Start’ button and drag the foods to their correct food groups. :)

Class pets

I have created a new page for our class pets. Click on the ‘Class pets’ link button above to see pictures of Slime, Sammy, Snowball and Candyfloss and to find out more information about them.

Our school trip - St Briavel’s Castle

Castle

I got back home this afternoon (Saturday) after visiting St Briavel’s Castle with Miss Price to have a look around before we go there on our school trip in March.

It took us around two hours to drive the 100 miles to St Briavel’s Castle from school, and in doing so we crossed the Severn Bridge.

The castle is amazing - you are going to love sleeping in it. I have uploaded some of the pictures I took of the castle on to a website called ‘flickr’ for you to have a look at. Click here to view the pictures (click on them to enlarge them).

Are you excited about the trip? I am! :)

Mini Moira on 2-TEN FM

2-TEN FM

As I told you in class, I heard on the radio that 2-TEN FM are looking for children aged 8 and above to help Moira, the breakfast traffic and travel news lady, present her slots on Friday mornings.

If you fancy yourself as a radio presenter for a morning (it would mean having to get up very early!) click here to be taken to the ‘Mini Moira’ page on 2-TEN FM’s website where you will find an online application form. Remember, you need to ask a parent or carer for their permission before you apply.

Can horses sing?

Horse

I came across a fun online application last night that I know you will like - click here to have a play around with it. Click on the horses to make them sing and to experiment with the different musical combinations that can be created.

Enjoy your weekend - see you bright and early on Monday. :)

Ordering negative numbers

Ordering numbers

Today I played an ordering negative numbers game with my maths set - if you would like to play the game yourself click here and then click on the ‘Order (Negative) Numbers’ game. Place the hats on the children’s heads in order of the smallest number to the biggest number and then click on the ‘check’ button to see if you are right.
